How pity and the guarantee work
Featured banners build toward a guaranteed high rarity over a set number of wishes, and the first high-rarity pull may be a non-featured character. If it is, the next one is guaranteed to be the featured unit. Knowing your counters tells you how close a result is.
Decide before you pull
Set a budget of wishes you are willing to spend and stop there. Pull for characters you will actually build and play, since an unbuilt character does nothing. Saving through banners you do not want lets you guarantee the ones you do.
